Purpose:

FinWise Bank is a commercial institution located in Murray, Utah that offers exceptional products in a manner that continually surpasses expectations.  Enterprise Risk Management is a vital part of the Bank’s structure and the Risk Division supports the Bank in these efforts.  The Risk Manager is primarily responsible to evaluate and monitor enterprise risks to the Bank associated with various partnerships, products, and processes that the Bank is engaged in, and to advise the Bank’s business units of those risks, and how they may be mitigated.  This role will also establish and maintain strong relationships across lines of business, as well as with management, to ensure all aspects of the risk management framework are delivered according to policy and business strategy.  The Risk Manager constitutes a key component within a team of skilled, and engaged colleagues with a broad span of responsibilities, who will actively interact with individuals from various business units.

Tasks:

  • Review technology processes and policies from a risk-based approach as well as security controls and levels of operational performance.
  • Review security assessments, monitoring, testing, and security control audits, to ensure compliance with applicable governing banking regulations
  • Manage concurrent activities with tight deliverables and a strong attention to detail.
  • The Risk Manager II will also be responsible to document procedures and create guidance documents to support the Bank’s business units in following Information Security policies, and direction given by the Information Security Officer.
  • Evaluate and present clear business and technology recommendations based on active balancing of threats, vulnerabilities, risk, and current business needs.
  • A solid understanding of risk-based decision making and risk management frameworks. Support the Bank’s business units in complying with defined security processes and controls.
  • Support the business units within the Bank to conduct Risk Control Self-Assessments and review the assessments in order to advise the business units and make control suggestions.
  • Ability to remain aware of current threats, trends and topics and ensuring that management is made aware of and trained on issues that they should be made aware of concerning information security.
  • Monitor new developments and changes within the risk management environment, and report on these developments and changes within the Risk Division, and throughout the Bank, as necessary.
  • Perform data validation activities through a defined process including acceptance testing and ongoing monitoring of key processes utilized by the Bank’s or its partners.
  • Monitor the models in use by the Bank’s business units, including review of the model questionnaire and updating the Bank’s Model Inventory, as necessary.
  • Communicate issues and risks to Program Management, the Bank’s ISO, the Risk department, and other teams to provide visibility, facilitate resolution and escalate when necessary
  • The Risk Manager II is also responsible to ensure that issues are being reported according to proper procedures and are being entered and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Advise the business units on various risk exposures and offer possible solutions to appropriately address risks in accordance with the Bank’s overall risk tolerance and risk appetite.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Outstanding technical background involving IT and IS as well as thorough understanding of relevant risk mitigation and technical controls following NIST, ISACA, and or ITIL guidance.
  • Direct experience with regulations related to Information Security (GLBA, SOX, FFIEC, PCI-DDS)
  • Demonstrate and apply a thorough understanding of third-party risk management, with specific focus on information security, data protection, resiliency, and other key operational risks associated with the use or technology (such as cloud, API, IT infrastructure, external audits, BCP/DR, and operational security functions)
  • Written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to communicate detailed, technical information in a manner comprehensible by individuals at varying degrees of experience and skill levels.
  • Assess risk of implemented security and technology controls, as well as monitoring and testing environments.
  • Ability to handle highly confidential information and material in a professional manner Evaluate and present clear business and technology recommendations based on active balancing of threats, vulnerabilities, risk, and current business needs.
  • A solid understanding of risk-based decision making and risk management frameworks
  • Manage concurrent activities with tight deliverables and a strong attention to detail.

Required Education / Experience / License:

  • BA/BS or equivalent professional experience
  • 5+ years experience within the banking or financial services industry
  • 3+ years experience in Information Security

Preferred Education /Experience / License:

  • Work experience in risk management, audit, or compliance
  • Risk management certifications
  • Masters degree in a related subject

Minimum Essential Requirements:

  • Sit or stand at a computer for long periods of time and look at a computer screen for several hours a day
  • Work at an assigned FinWise office location
  • Communicate with others in person, on the phone, virtual meeting and email
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Lift 20 lbs.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance
  • Work overtime as assigned
  • Travel overnight as required
  • Work cooperatively with others
  • Driving during the workday
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures
